Why is it so important to keep track of your credit score? There are two very strong reasons:
1. Credit bureaus make mistakes – all the time. About 10% of our subscribers found errors that are dragging down their credit score. The mistakes range from things such as the credit bureaus not crediting you for on-time payments on a card, to having your name wrong. If you don’t check, then these mistakes might never get noticed.
2. You might have unexpected late payments. Remember that late video rental fee you had from 2001? Or a yoga membership that was getting charged to a credit card that expired? If something was never paid off, then it could still be on your record and dragging down your score. Even late payments for small dollar amounts will have a big impact on your credit score.
